Ariel was launched in 1967 in Germany. Since then, it has become one of the world's best-selling laundry detergent brands. Ariel's premium and high-quality branding is understood by consumers in over 20 countries. In a recent study of the top 100 most valuable global brands, Ariel was ranked higher than Gucci.
In 1993, Proctor & Gamble (P&G) introduced Ariel to the Chinese market, where it became the first detergent to apply stain-removal enzyme technology. Ariel is now recognised as one of China's high-end laundry detergent brands.

Ariel is upgrading its product line in 2011 to better suit the needs of its high-end users.
Ariel is moving beyond cleaning to include fabric care and protection to prove consumers with a holistic laundry experience. The new Ariel formula offers new stain-removal and fabric care technologies so clothes look clean like new even after 30 washes. New upscale product packaging to reflect the modern woman’s pursuit for beauty.
